A teacher shortage is being projected nationally for the coming years!  Michigan State's Teacher Preparation Program continues to be ranked the top program in the country for elementary and secondary education.  Michigan State teacher education graduates are getting teaching jobs in Michigan, across the U.S., and around the world!

The application for admission to the Teacher Preparation Program at MSU is now open for the fall semester.  All information, instructions, and the link to the application can be accessed at

http://education.msu.edu/teacher-preparation/applying/applying-msu-students.asp

The application requires paying/registering for and completing a one hour proctored essay on MSU’s campus, for which the last posted date is December 11.  The minimum GPA required for admission is now a 2.5.  As in the past, all students must demonstrate having basic skills in math, reading, and writing using approved testing options, including specified minimum ACT scores or passing of the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) Professional Readiness Exam (PRE).  Many MSU students meet all or part of the testing requirement with the ACT scores they have already submitted to MSU.  Students may speak with a teacher education advisor in 134 Erickson or phone 353-9680 with questions regarding deadlines, testing options and minimum requirements.
